The Paxtonia Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 is the second oldest Fire Company in Lower Paxton Township. The equipment is manned by volunteer firemen and serves Lower Paxton Township and nearby communities.

Paxtonia Fire Company No.1 was organized in 1937 by a handful of men and was chartered in 1938. The first officers of the Fire Company were:

Shorty Morton - Fire Chief
Harry Kocher - President
Al Duncan - Secretary
Ben Kelsey - Treasurer

Other organizing members were Ed and Joe Harman, Mel Kocher, and Tom Evelhock.

The first piece of equipment was and old Chemical Truck purchased from Bressler at $25. Second piece of equipment was a 1941 Dodge Army Surplus at a cost of $1000. Third piece of equipment a 1957 Mack and the forth was a 1963 Mack.

The Fire Company has grown from the original eight organizers to the 30 Active Members and 33 Social Members that help to serve and protect Lower Paxton Township and surrounding communities every day.
